Patrick "JJ" Smith has been
a working artist since the age of 13 and has been a professional
musician since the early '70's. His roots are in Kingston, Jamaica,
where he played Drums and Keyboards throughout the Caribbean
and the United States with many major Reggae artists including
Bob Marley and the Wailers, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers,
Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, Third World, Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown,
Sugar Minot, Gregory Issacs, The Mighty Diamonds just to mention
only a few. He transplanted his roots music to Pittsburgh, PA,
in 1982 following in Bob Marley's footsteps as this was Bob's
last concert venue. Now his home, this was Pittsburgh's first
experience of authentic Jamaican Reggae which could be claimed
as local.
JJ is now a Producer and Artist.
He is currently the Primary Engineer at State of Hearts Studios
in Pittsburgh, PA. He is musically gifted and can translate,
emphasize and orchestrate any idea musically. He is able to offer
the production of Roots, Lover's Rock, Dancehall Reggae and Caribbean
Rhythms as well as other musical styles such as Rhythm and Blues,
Soul, Jazz, Gospel, Hip-Hop, Rap, and Rock and Roll.
