John Fox has always loved and been consumed
by music. His mother started him on piano lessons at age twelve
after hearing him play songs by Chicago and Three Dog Night by
ear. He played in many piano recitals in the late 70's and early
80's. Things soon changed after his mother bought him the album
Van Halen and soon by age fourteen John was playing guitar and
starting to write songs. After having played in many garage bands,
John joined his first semi-professional rock band "Dragonfire".
They wrote originals and performed music by Sammy Hagar,
Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy and Ozzy Osbourne
to name a few.
After leaving Dragonfire, John then hooked up with charismatic
front man John Vento to perform in "Exposure". Playing
material from INXS, The Power Station, John
Cougar and Bon Jovi. After a two year stint John exited
"Exposure" and performed with "Hot To Trot"
- a blues based classic rock band. It was during this period
that John's songwriting abilities started to grow and mature
from writing and recording with his college buddies known simply
as "Plankton". Even as the musical climate shifted
in the early 90's, John stuck to his heavy metal guns and continued
to write and perform with metal band "Solomon Grundy".
John's favorite highlight was in 1994 having Ozzy Osbourne
listen and respond to a demo tape John had sent him when Osbourne
was looking for a guitarist. John had also met legendary Ozzy
guitarist Randy Rhoads early in 1982 before his untimely
death. Even though he didn't get the gig, John was elated that
his childhood hero had sent him a reply and personally autographed
the letter. It was also arround this time that John began to
impersonate Ozzy and appear in clubs and perform Ozzy music with
whatever band would invite him onstage. To this day, John is
known to many as "Ozzy".
As the 21st century dawned, the two Johns, Vento and Fox,
reunited to write and record two adult contemporary cd's. "Reflections
Of An Average Soul" and the much lauded "Nieds Hotel"
aided by legendary Winger/Whitesnake guitarist "Reb
Beach". After five years performing with Vento, John has
decided to retire himself to studio work. A true labor of love.
"When a new great song is dumped into your lap, it feels
like the heavens have truly smiled upon you." - says Fox.
John is currently the producer and bassist for the brutal, hardcore
band "Stone Cold Truth" and is doing keyboard sessions
for a great new metal band in Pittsburgh that shall remain nameless
until their 2nd full length release comes out later next year.
Keep listening. You haven't heard the last of John Fox.
Sincerely yours,
John "Ozzy" Fox.
